A dental assistant is considered the “extension” of the dental operator (dentist or oral health therapist) forming a strong professional relationship to really understand the requirements of each individual operator and anticipating the needs of the dental operator and of each individual patient for a seamless and “wow” experience.

Duties & responsibilities
- Chair-side assisting
- Sterilisation
- Conducts quality handovers & debriefing
- Implements Infection Control protocols and sterilisation management.
- Maintains detailed and accurate notes
- Prepares for all treatments
- Maintains sterilisation area and surgeries
- Clinical Maintenance
- Works through daily, weekly and monthly checklists
- Clinical Stock control
- Manages lab items Internal lab & management
- Abides by OHS
- Front office assistance – answering phones making appointment filing etc when necessary
